The owners of Caruso have always focused on Mediterranean and homely atmosphere at their restaurant. Live music is played by guitarist during the weekends. The lovely Italian host Mario, and his staff along with the diverse menu selection, is what Caruso is known for and makes it ever so popular among the locals and the tourists. The menu includes deliciously prepared traditional Italian cuisines as well as famous local Icelandic dishes at a very reasonable price.
Caruso location is at Lækjartorg Plaza in the heart of Reykjavik. The restaurant was recently moved to this beautiful quaint house, originally built in 1801. In 1805, Count Fredrik Christopher Trampe, a representative from Denmark and the highest authority at the time, moved into the house and had a large fireplace built. Since then the house has gone through many renovations and a large fire in 2007, but the fireplace is still in its original condition. After the fire, the house was rebuilt after its original image from 1801.
