The zoo features Icelandic farm animals and mammals from the country's wildlife, as well as a small collection of exotic animals.

Our speciality is, of course, Icelandic farm animals, particularly the ones that have been here since the country was settled. The zoo also has wild Icelandic animals and a special exhibition with exotic species.

Not just farm animals - There are a lot more animals at the zoo than most people think. Icelandic farm animals, mammals from the country's wildlife, in addition to a small exhibition of reptiles, amphibians and insects. The park and Zoo offer up great fun for the whole family all year round.

The park´s history - Laugardalur Valley is a very special place to the city's residents. The last several decades, various facilities have been built for people to spend their free time on sports, games, outdoor activities and education. The Park and Zoo add its own special contribution to the valley and has become increasingly popular.

How to get there

Transport by bus - The busses stopping close to the park are routes 2, 5, 15, and 17 at the intersection of the streets Suðurlandsbraut and Vegmúli-the bus stop is called Laugardalshöll.

Transport by car - The Park and Zoo are located in Laugardalur Valley and share parking spots with the Skautahöll ice rink and the Botanical garden of Reykjavik. The parking spots can be used free of charge.

Hop-on, Hop-off - The Hop-on, Hop-off bus stops in the vicinity of the park at the Hilton Hotel and the City Hostel. The park is an ideal place to make a stop when sightseeing around the city.
